Pedestrian dies after getting struck by lorry at Jurong West junction

A 57-year-old man died in hospital after he was hit by a lorry in Jurong West on Friday morning (Aug 25).

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Jurong West Avenue 2 and Bulim Avenue at 9.25am.

"A 57- year-old male pedestrian was conveyed conscious to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away" police added.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the deceased's niece appealed in a Facebook post the following day for eyewitnesses to come forward with more information.

She also said that the driver of the Malaysia-registered lorry fled the scene after the collision and that while police "managed to retrieve the licence plate number" from CCTV cameras, they could only make an arrest when the driver re-enters Singapore.

Police investigations are ongoing.
