70-year-old woman dies after getting hit by car in Bukit Panjang, driver assisting with investigations

A 70-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car along Bukit Panjang Ring Road towards Jelebu Road on Monday evening (July 10).

Stomper Nyi Yan alerted Stomp to the incident and said it happened near Segar LRT Station at about 8pm.

He also shared a clip of paramedics performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the woman amidst onlookers.

"According to witnesses, they mentioned seeing a woman dashing across the road just four metres away from the traffic light when a black car was speeding towards her," he said.

"The ambulance arrived and paramedics were trying to resuscitate the woman by CPR.

"She was carried off on a stretcher not long after.

"Police also arrived at the scene and were interviewing the driver in question as well as nearby bystanders who witnessed the incident."

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at 8.01pm.

"A 70-year-old female pedestrian was conveyed unconscious to the hospital, where she subsequently passed away," a police spokesman said.

"A 41-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations."

Police investigations are ongoing.
