46-year-old SIA pilot dies after bike accident in KL

A Singapore Airlines (SIA) pilot died following a motorcycle accident in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 22.

Several Stompers alerted Stomp to photos of the accident that have been circulating online.

Photos posted by Facebook user Ha Nyut show a Singapore-registered motorcycle lying on a road shoulder. Ha Nyut also said that the accident happened in Kuala Lumpur and that the rider died on the spot.

The deceased, Mr Wang, was a 46-year-old pilot with SIA.

Following the pilot's death, his wife posted using his Facebook account at 1.08am on Aug 23: "In loving memory of my loving husband Eugene Bernard Wang.

"10th August 1972 - 22nd August 2018."

As of 10.03am on Aug 24, the post has garnered 183 comments, nearly all of which were offering condolences to Mr Wang.

Mohamed Fadhil posted: "Dear Mdm Gloria. I flew with him more than 13 years ago as his FO. He was such a good captain and a husband that I try to emulate. Rest in Peace Captain."

Another Facebook user, Peri James commented: "Wishing God's Comfort and my deepest condolences to you and your children. He was always supportive with his jovial, positive and encouragingly pragmatic outlook on life."

As stated in Mr Wang's Facebook profile, he was from Kuala Lumpur and lived in Pasir Ris.

According to The Straits Times, an SIA spokesman said: "SIA deeply regrets to confirm that one of our pilots passed away on Aug 22. Our immediate priority is to provide the necessary assistance to the family of the pilot.

"For privacy purposes, we are unable to share any further details. Our condolences go out to the family of the pilot at this time."
