39-year-old man arrested for allegedly molesting 2 women on buses

A 39-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in two separate cases of outrage of modesty, both of which occurred on a bus.

In the first case, on March 26 at about 8.30am, the police were alerted to a case of outrage of modesty involving a 32-year-old woman while on board a bus along Tanglin Road.

In the second case, the police received a report from a 24-year-old woman who had been molested by a man while on board a bus along Newton Road on July 23 at about 8.20am.

Through follow up investigations, officers from the Public Transport Security Command, Tanglin and Jurong Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him along Penang Lane.

The man will be charged in court on Sep 7 with outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

Anyone convicted for the offence of outrage of modesty shall be punished with a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine and/or caning.
