A 52-year-old man was apprehended after he threw a mahjong table from height at Block 58 Chai Chee Drive on Saturday (Aug 1).

Responding to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at 6.51pm and apprehended the man under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to photos of the incident that were posted on Facebook, showing the mahjong table at the foot of the block and police officers at the scene.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, the mahjong table belonged to a female resident on the 12th floor who had placed it along the corridor.

The resident, who is a neighbour of the man, said that he had started throwing items from the corridor down the block all of a sudden.

She shared: "The mahjong table is around $100 and has been used for around three to four years. Sometimes I use it as a dining table when we have gatherings at home."
