Dark and gloomy skies make S'pore skyline look like Gotham City

Stomper Michelle was travelling along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) yesterday (Apr 25) when she noticed the skies above the Central Business District (CBD) looking very dark.
What looked like a thick grey cloud surrounded skyscrapers in the area.
"We have a smokey CBD area and I wonder why," pondered Michelle.
"Any interesting explanations for such a sight?"
It is unclear if it was simply a low-based rain cloud, haze or the aftermath of a fire.
