A FairPrice customer was disgusted to find a maggot after she ate the Wasa sesame crackers purchased from the supermarket.

Stomper C shared a video of the insect larva crawling on a plate.

She recounted: "On Dec 18, I took out two biscuits from the packet and, after finishing eating them, discovered a worm crawling around my plate amid the biscuit crumbs.

"Hence, I used a tissue to quickly remove the worm from my plate and took pictures and videos as proof before discarding it. I almost puked."

She said she had bought the Wasa sesame crackers from FairPrice Xtra Nex Mall on Dec 13. The expiry date on the packaging is July 31, 2024.

"Feeling disgusted, I called the FairPrice customer service hotline to inform them of this incident and see if any follow-up actions would be taken, such as recalling the current batch of Wasa biscuits with the same expiry date still on sale on the shelves," said the Stomper, who was instructed to take the item back to the store where it was purchased for a refund.

"This response left me questioning the quality control at FairPrice, wondering how many other potentially 'defective' or 'spoiled' items might be on their shelves.

"Therefore, I am writing in not only to inform consumers who enjoy Wasa biscuits about this incident but also to raise awareness about the need for vigilance when it comes to product quality."

"Consumers have the right to know about such incidents, empowering them to make informed decisions about their purchases and encouraging businesses to uphold high standards."

In response to a Stomp query, a FairPrice Group spokesperson said: "FairPrice Group is dedicated to upholding high standards for food safety and quality, and we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure these standards are maintained.

"We are in contact with the customer to resolve the issue. Customers may return or exchange unsatisfactory products at the same store of purchase with the receipt."
