A Vietnamese woman who accused an Uber driver of molesting her, resulting in him being beaten up, has been detained by the police.
Malaysian police said that the 43-year-old woman was arrested when she turned up at the district police headquarters in Patani Road.
She was detained to assist in the investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with a weapon.
"She is expected to be remanded tomorrow," said the police.
The woman claimed that she was in the car when the driver took his pants off and exposed his private parts to her before pulling her hand to his crotch.
When she arrived at home, she told her husband about this incident, reports The Star.
Her husband, together with a group of nine other people, subsequently found the driver and confronted him before beating him up.
The Uber driver, the woman's husband and two of the husband's friends were also remanded for four days.
Police are investigating the case under Section 354/377D of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage a person’s modesty and Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.
