Woman shouts for help after man molests her at Upper Boon Keng Road, suspect arrested in 7 hours

A 22-year-old man was arrested for alleged outrage of modesty on Friday (Sept 16), said police.

Police were alerted at about 8.37am to a case where a woman was purportedly molested by an unknown man at Upper Boon Keng Road.

She immediately shouted for help and he fled.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Central Police Division, Bedok Police Division, Public Transport Security Command and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man and arrested him within seven hours of the report.

Investigations are ongoing.

The man was to be charged in court on Sept 17 with outrage of modesty, which carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
