An MRT train ride turned tense after two women clashed over a seat.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to a video of the incident that was posted on Dec 18 by TikTok by user Dina Lee. The clip was also reposted on Facebook.

The video shows an elderly woman taking up two seats by placing her handbag next to her. This prompts another passenger to confront her.

She tells the other woman, who is standing, that she will complain about her to the authorities.

The woman tells her in Malay to go ahead and 'I'm not scared'.

The older woman then complains that the commuter is disturbing her but the woman who is standing says she isn't and points out that there are two seats.

"Look, (the train) is full," she says while gesturing at the cabin.

One netizen commented on the video saying there was 'no point arguing' with 'old timers'.

Another said: "Seat for human not bag leh."

A TikTok user gave the following advice regarding such skirmishes: "Minding our own business is the safest way to travel."
