Woman arrested after splashing Eunos Crescent unit with red paint, leaving debtor's note on floor

A 46-year-old woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment, the police said in a statement.

On Mar 10 at about 1.50am, the police were alerted to a case at a residential unit along Eunos Crescent where red paint was splashed on the unit and a debtor's note was left on the floor.

Officers identified the woman and arrested her on Mar 12.

She will be charged in court on Mar 14 under the Moneylenders Act.

Those found guilty of loan shark harassment can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000, jailed for up to five years, and caned up to six strokes.

"The police have zero-tolerance for loanshark harassment activities," the statement said.

"Those who deliberately vandalise properties, cause annoyance and disruption to public safety and security, will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law."

Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not work with or assist them in any way.
