A 60-year-old man was found dead in a residential unit at Block 51 Chin Swee Road on April 16.
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to a case of an unnatural death at around 1.30pm.
The man was found lying motionless and pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.
Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.
Police investigations are ongoing
According to Shin Min Daily News, the man's 80-year-old mother was the one who discovered his body in bed. The two lived together in the unit.
Mdm Chen said she had just awakened from a nap when she noticed that her son was motionless.
She added: "His bed is just opposite mine. When I saw that he was not moving, I called a friend who lives nearby to come over and help.
"My friend notified the authorities, who told me that my son was already gone."
Mdm Chen, who was in an emotional state, also revealed that her son had been addicted to gambling and suffered from depression.
She said that he was well-behaved when young, but lost all his family's money after picking up gambling around 20 years ago.
"He was led astray by some bad friends, became addicted to gambling and lost two houses," Mdm Chen added.
"He seemed to owe loan sharks money and would also ask me for money. He would scold and even hit me when I told him not to gamble. Sometimes, I worried that the neighbours would hear.
"I really couldn't control him.
"Everyone, no need to worry about me. I will lead a good life."
