Man, 76, living alone for over 40 years found dead in Bedok Reservoir Road flat

A 76-year-old man was found dead in his home at Block 713 Bedok Reservoir Road on March 14.

The police were alerted to the unnatural death at around 10.45am, they told Stomp in response to queries, adding: "The elderly man was found lying motionless in a residential unit and was pronounced dead at the scene."

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.

According to Shin Min Daily News, there was a stench emitting from the eighth-floor unit.

Four relatives had rushed to the scene but declined to speak. They were seen entering the unit at around 1pm to identify the body, with one woman breaking down in tears.

A neighbour on the same floor said the deceased was a Chinese man who had been living alone for more than 40 years. He was believed to be unmarried.

The neighbour recounted: "I kept smelling something bad and saw liquid on the ground, so I notified the man's aunt, who works in the vicinity, to help contact his other family members."

Police investigations are ongoing.
