WhatsApp message about eggs recalled for containing salmonella false: FairPrice

A misleading WhatsApp message about FairPrice recalling its eggs is false, said the supermarket chain in a Facebook post on Saturday (Oct 14).

The post said: "The message falsely claims that eggs sold at our stores are contaminated with salmonella and advises you to return them for a refund. We want to clarify that this is untrue, and there is no egg recall at any of our stores.

"We urge you to be vigilant when receiving and forwarding information via WhatsApp or any other messaging platform. We only post official updates and alerts on our website (www.fairprice.com.sg) and our official social media channels (Facebook: NTUC FairPrice and Instagram: @fairpricesg)."

The Singapore Food Agency shared the post with its own statement: "We have been alerted to a circulating message regarding the recall of eggs. Do note that there is no such recall."
