Video: SCDF officers rescue woman sitting on ledge at Redhill Close

A woman sitting on a ledge of Block 69, Redhill Close, was rescued by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers yesterday (Aug 4) at around 5.40pm.

A video of the incident was shared on Must See Singapura News’s Facebook page.

In the video, the woman was seen sitting precariously on a ledge, both legs dangling outside.

Officers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) then rappelled down, and grabbed the woman to safety.

Members of the public could be heard cheering the DART officers on, with some expressing cries of elation when the woman was secured. 

The SCDF has issued an official statement on the incident:

“SCDF was alerted to the case at Block 69, Redhill Close at about 5.40pm.

‘One fire engine, one Red Rhino, one ambulance, and four support appliances were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, SCDF set up a lifepak on the ground floor as a precautionary measure.

“DART officers rescued the female subject by rappelling from the sixth floor.

“A female Chinese in her twenties was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.”

In an official statement, the police said:

"On Aug 4, 2017, at 5.39pm, the police were alerted to a case of attempted suicide at Block 69, Redhill Close.

"A 27-year-old woman was arrested in relation to the case.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
