Trio arrested for evading roadblock and beating three red lights

Three teenagers, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested for allegedly evading a roadblock.

The police said in a statement they received a report on May 15 at 12.30am that a vehicle had evaded a roadblock and beat three red lights along the way.

Officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the driver and passengers within 16 hours.

An operation was conducted immediately on the same day, resulting in the arrest of three male teenagers.

The driver of the vehicle will be charged in court on Monday (May 17).

Evading a roadblock carries a fine of up to $5,000, up to 12 months' jail, or both.

The driver will also be charged for rash driving on a public way which carries a jail term of up to one year, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.

Police investigations against the passengers are ongoing.

The police said they take a serious view of persons who evade roadblocks and drive recklessly on the roads.

Perpetrators will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
