Taxi catches fire at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6: Fourth reported vehicle fire in January

A car caught fire at Block 728 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 in the early hours of Friday (Jan 14).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it was alerted to the fire, which involved the vehicle's engine compartment, at around 12.15am.

SCDF extinguished the fire using three compressed air foam backpacks and a hose reel.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Stomper Tim shared photos of the burning vehicle and noted that this is the fourth such incident this month.

Just yesterday (Jan 13), a mother and son had a narrow escape after their Mercedes caught fire outside Maris Stella High School.

Separately, a Porsche went up in flames along the the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Monday evening (Jan 10).

In another incident last Friday (Jan 7), a driver died while trapped in a rented Mazda that caught fire following a collision in a carpark at Block 42 Cassia Crescent.
