Stomper commends Pending LRT Station's staff after intoxicated man seen lying on platform

A man was taken to hospital after he was seen lying down on a platform at Pending LRT Station on Feb 26.

Stomper Raven shared with Stomp that he was with his family members and was topping up his EZ-Link card when he witnessed what happened.

At 11.40pm, I saw two paramedics and one ambulance driver convey the man from the station," he said.

"Moments later, the authorities arrived and took statements from the staff and left at about 11.44pm.

"I would like to thank the station's staff who were very calm and managed this situation well.

"The station was eventually closed at 11.52pm."

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp they received a call for assistance at 9 Pending Road at 11.10pm.

A person was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, an SCDF spokesperson said.

In response to a Stomp query, Mr Chan Wye Keong, head of BPLRT, SMRT Trains said: ""On 26 Feb at around 11.10pm, a commuter reported seeing an intoxicated individual lying on the Pending station platform on the Bukit Panjang LRT Line.

"Our staff promptly responded and attended to the commuter until the ambulance arrived.

"We commend our staff for their commitment to commuter safety.

"This exemplifies SMRT’s service ethos which is ‘Go-To SMRT - We Love to Help’, where frontline staff are specially trained to administer first-aid and assist commuters in need."
