Spending $220 at Starbucks? Crowds sweep Miffy merchandise off shelves

Fans flocked to Starbucks stores on March 13 in anticipation of its new collectibles.

The Starbucks + Miffy Collection included merchandise such as puffer tote bags, mugs and tumblers priced starting from $26.90. They were available in stores and online from 10am onwards.

Fans could also get exclusive deals such as a free Miffy Straw + Straw Clip and a Miffy cup sleeve with purchase.

Stomper Cappuccino visited the Starbucks outlet at Canberra Plaza at around 11am and was surprised by the long queue.

She recounted: "I was there just to get a drink and redeem the free straw, but realised that people were sweeping merchandise off the almost-empty shelves and basket.

"A lot of the items were already sold out. The $52.90 Miffy Barista Miffy Plush appeared to be the most popular and I saw some people in the queue with multiple bears."

The Stomper also observed customers checking the amount of stock left and chopeing them with staff before joining the line.

Cappuccino said: "I checked the Starbucks website while queueing and everything in the Miffy collection was already listed as sold out.

"I was shocked to see a woman in front of me paying $220 for her haul. Wow!"
