When a deliveryman showed up at the door with a mysterious package, alarm bells immediately went off in his head.
Stomper Goh, a resident in the east of Singapore, said his suspicions were raised when the deliveryman asked for cash-on-delivery (COD) payment of $140.
The incident occurred on Friday (July 14), at around 5.20pm.
Goh told Stomp: "There was no recipient name whatsoever. The deliveryman was from J&T and said I had to pay $140 or I could reject the parcel.
"I had no idea what the parcel contained and immediately rejected it.
"I believe this is a scam as my purchases online have all already been paid for via credit card. There is no chance for a parcel to be delivered COD and it was a good $140.
"I hope to inform people about this and advise everyone to be careful."
The Stomper has also made a police report.
Goh is not the only one who believes he has encountered some sort of attempted scam involving pacel delivery.
Stomper Derfla experienced something similar last month when a deliveryman left a package on her doorstep, then returned to retrieve it a day later but claimed that items were missing from the package.
In a separate case last month, Stomper Varsha received a package from Lazada despite not having ordered anything from the e-commerce platform.
She, too, questioned if this was a scam and how the sender had obtained her personal details.
Upon contacting Lazada, Varsha was told that "this is a very complicated issue" and that while Lazada was unable to confirm how the seller had obtained Varsha's information, it had permanently removed the seller from its platform.
