An SBS Transit bus service 124 was spotted emitting a lot of smoke in Telok Blangah on Tuesday afternoon (Nov 7).

Stomper Allan shared a video of the smoky vehicle which had stopped just after a bus stop at 12.15pm.

He said the bus was giving off "excessive exhaust fumes" opposite Block 25 Telok Blangah Crescent.

"Passengers were asked to alight," added the Stomper.

In response to a Stomp query, SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu said: "While driving along Telok Blangah Way, our bus captain noticed smoke coming out from the back of his bus.

"For passenger safety, he quickly stopped the bus and evacuated the passengers onboard.

"The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was not alerted for assistance as there was no fire and neither was anyone hurt.

"The bus was subsequently towed back to the workshop and we are investigating the cause of the incident.

"We apologise to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused."
