Residents applaud as SCDF officers rescue woman, 74, from parapet of Bukit Batok block

Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were caught on camera rescuing a woman from height in Bukit Batok, to the applause of residents.

Several readers alerted Stomp to a video of the rescue operation that occurred at Block 210A Bukit Batok Street 21 on Saturday (June 17).

Stomper Joshua Amos also shared photos showing a safety life air pack at the foot of the block, which SCDF deployed as a safety measure.

SCDF said it received a call for assistance at about 5.25pm.

A spokesman added : "SCDF deployed nets and Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) rescuers rappelled from two floors above to rescue the person."

The police told Stomp that a 74-year-old woman was apprehended under Section 7(1) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008. She was conscious when taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

In the video, cheers and applause can be heard as SCDF officers are seen pulling the person to safety.
