Pregnant woman in China fired for not responding to WeChat message after working hours

The manager of a drink stall in Zhejiang, China, was given the boot following her failure to respond to a WeChat message that was sent to her after office hours.

The text read: "If you do not give feedback on the monthly business sales in 10 minutes, you will be sacked."

The manager who was pregnant, apparently went to bed early that night, reports The Star.

The next day at work, she was shocked to discover that she had been fired without even getting her outstanding salary.

She eventually got a compensation of 18,000 yuan (S$3,595) under labour laws, which stated that employees have the right to rest on their off days.
