Pregnant singer shot dead in Pakistan after refusing to stand up and sing

A 24-year-old singer was shot dead during a festive ceremony in Kanga village near Larkana, Pakistan on Tuesday (April 11).

Samina Samoon, also known as Samina Sindhu, was six months pregnant when she was allegedly shot dead by Tarique Ahmed Jatoi during her performance.

According to Dawn.com, she had refused to oblige the suspect's 'request' that she stand up while singing despite his badgering.

He was allegedly drunk.

Samina was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police have arrested the suspect. He said he was seated in the front row and fired into the air while Samina on her third song but one of the bullets hit her, reported the BBC via Daily Mail.
