Pedestrian stunned after close shave with Mercedes that ran red light in Punggol

A Mercedes driver was caught on camera nearly colliding with a pedestrian after running a red light in Punggol Central.

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante - SGRV posted a video of the incident that occurred on October 28, at around 1.50pm.

In the video which Stomper Lau Lau alerted Stomp to, the Mercedes driver can be seen failing to stop for a red light despite a woman being in the midst of crossing the road.

The vehicle goes past the pedestrian, who appears stunned by the incident and is seen looking at the Mercedes.

The Facebook post noted that the pedestrian might not have seen the oncoming car initially as she was sheltering her head from the rain and "maybe vision got blocked (sic)".

Netizens have expressed outrage in response to the video, with many calling for enforcement action to be taken against the Mercedes driver.

One user even lodged a police report.

He went on to explain: "When more people start reporting, motorists will think twice. Right now, they know that not many bother to report. That's why they dare to flout the rules."
