Man taken to hospital after getting assaulted and robbed in back lane of Lorong 41 Geylang

A 38-year-old man was arrested within 12 hours of assaulting and robbing someone at the back lane of Lorong 41 Geylang.

The police said they were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt on Thursday (Aug 31), at 11.54pm.

They added: "Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly assaulted the victim and robbed him of his cash, a mobile phone, and a phone cover containing his work permit and ez-link card."

The male victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him within 12 hours of the report.

The stolen items, except for cash, were subsequently recovered.

The man was charged in court on Saturday with the offence of robbery with hurt, which carries a jail term of between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
