Man procures escort services from 27-year-old woman, gets extorted for $15k by her

A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly trying to extort $15,000 from a man.

The police said they received a report about a case of extortion from a male victim who had procured escort services from an unknown woman on Sunday (Mar 5), at around 7.45pm.

"The woman then purportedly told the man that she would report him to the police if he failed to give her $15,000. Out of fear, the victim transferred a sum of $1,800 via bank transfer first," police added.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested her within 19 hours of the report.

The woman is believed to be involved in three other similar cases that have been reported, involving a total sum of at least $19,000.

The woman will be charged in court on Wednesday (Mar 8) with extortion, which carries a jail term of between two and seven years.
