Man molested woman, then assaulted another man after being confronted and fled

A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman along French Road and then assaulting another man after being confronted.

The police said they received a report about the alleged outrage of modesty on Sunday (Aug 20), at around 5.20pm.

They added: "The unknown man had also assaulted another man after being confronted, before he fled from the incident location."

Through ground enquiries and follow-up investigations conducted by officers from Central Police Division, the man was detained and arrested within one hour of the report in the vicinity of Bendemeer Road.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The man was charged in court on Tuesday with outrage of modesty, which carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.

The police said they have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community and offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.

They also urged members of the public to remain vigilant. Those who witness an incident of outrage of modesty or are aware of someone being a victim of outrage of modesty should report the matter to the police immediately.
