Man in Liverpool shirt arrested for public nuisance after causing commotion at Stadium MRT station

His team lost, but now he has bigger problems.

A 30-year-old man who caused a commotion at Stadium MRT station after the Liverpool-Bayern Munich football match at the National Stadium on Aug 2 has been arrested.

His antics were caught on several videos circulating online.

In one video, the man wearing a Liverpool jersey can be seen shouting at an MRT station staff member on the train platform as he boarded a train.

The Reds were defeated 3-4 in the match.

The police received a report about the man the next day.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on Friday (Aug 4).

The man will be charged in court on Monday with public nuisance, which carries a fine of up to $2,000.

In the case where the offender knew that the act or omission constituting the public nuisance will cause or will probably cause any common injury, danger or annoyance to the public, the offender may be liable upon conviction to an imprisonment term which may extend to three months, a fine which may extend to $2,000, or both.
