Members of the public managed to put out a car fire at Desker Road before the arrival of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) in the wee hours of April 13.

Facebook user Lin Andrew shared two videos of incident outside his shop called Taowesuwan.co.

One video showed flames burning through the windshield of the car and one man beating the flames with a long stick while another man used a fire extinguisher.

The second video was taken after the fire was put out. A big hole can be seen in the windshield of the still white BMW with firefighters checking the interior of the sedan. A fire engine was parked next to the car along with other SCDF vehicles.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to a fire near 91 Desker Road at about 1.45am.

"The fire involved the interior cabin of a car. Members of the public extinguished the fire using a dry powder extinguisher prior to SCDF's arrival," said SCDF.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The shop near where the fire happened sells religious items and houses a 24-hour Thai Buddhist mini-temple.
