A 40-year-old man was arrested for drug-related offences and attacking a police officer in Bukit Batok on Nov 30.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to an incident involving a man shouting at Block 433A Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

In video footage shared by the Stomper, the man is seen being apprehended by police officers.

"They said he was calling his mum to bring him home," the Stomper said.

"The police and an ambulance arrived and his mum also came down."

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to a call for assistance at 11.15pm.

A police spokesperson said the man was observed to be wailing and screaming to himself.

"He was not forthcoming when officers approached him and suddenly turned aggressive," the spokesperson said.

"He then assaulted one of the officers and necessary force was used to restrain him.

"He was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty and suspected drug-related offences."

The man was taken to hospital for his injuries. The 21-year-old police officer also suffered injuries due to the assault and sought medical treatment from the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
