Man arrested for allegedly molesting 6 girls aged 9 to 13 at Hougang Swimming Complex

A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday (Sep 24) for allegedly molesting six female victims, aged between nine and 13.

At 3.51pm on Sep 13, the police were alerted to a case of outrage of modesty at Hougang Swimming Complex. Through follow-up investigation by officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the man was subsequently identified and arrested along Hougang Avenue 2.

The man will be charged in court on Wednesday (Sep 26) with outrage of modesty.

Anyone convicted for the offence of outrage of modesty shall be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with a combination of such punishments.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (Sep 25), the police advised members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

• Be alert and attentive to your surroundings; and

• If you are molested, seek help immediately from those around you. Take note of the prominent features and attire of the suspect as well as the direction in which he or she went. Call '999' as soon as possible to increase the chances of apprehending the suspect early. If it is safe to do so, the victim or other witnesses to the crime may assist to detain the suspect while waiting for the police to arrive.
