Man allegedly molests woman in Woodlands, arrested within two hours of report

A 39-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.

On Wednesday (Oct 18), the police received a report at about 2.50pm that a woman was allegedly molested by an unknown man along Woodlands Street 82. 

Officers established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the report.

He will be charged in court on Friday (Oct 20) with outrage of modesty which carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.

"The police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community," the police said.

"Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.

"The police would also like to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and to report the matter to the police immediately if they witnessed an incident of outrage of modesty, or are aware of someone being a victim of outrage of modesty."
