Man allegedly molests woman at Yishun Ring Road, arrested within 2 hours

A 43-year-old man was arrested within two hours of allegedly molesting a woman along Yishun Ring Road on Sunday (Oct 1).

The police said they received a report about the case at 3.57pm.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him within two hours of the report.

The man will be charged in court on Tuesday with outrage of modesty, which carries a jail term of up to three years, caning, a fine, or any combination of such punishments.

The police said they have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community and added: "Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law."

They also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report the matter to the police immediately if they witness an incident of outrage of modesty or are aware of someone being a victim of outrage of modesty.
