Man, 25, arrested within 7 hours of snatching woman's handbag at Marine Terrace

A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly snatching a handbag from a woman in Marine Terrace.

The police said they were alerted to the case of snatch theft on Jan 8, at around 7.15am.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him within seven hours from the time of the report.

The stolen handbag was recovered and seized as a case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on Jan 10 with snatch theft, which carries a jail term of between one year and seven years, and caning.

The police said they will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
