It's not too late to experience Ice Magic: Winter Wonderland at Marina Bay

If you want to escape the heat and humidity of Singapore, you don’t have to go very far because Ice Magic has returned to our little red dot with its second edition, bigger and better than before.

Winter holidays are popular with Singaporeans but they come with a certain level of inconvenience.

Personally, this writer does not relish the idea of a long-haul flight with two rambunctious toddlers.

On top of that, you need to splash some significant cash on winter wear which you will probably only wear once or twice a year. So, my family was excited to experience the magic of winter at Marina Bay, just a 20-minute car ride away.

Located right beside Marina Bay Sands, Ice Magic: Winter Wonderland will be here until Jan 21.

We appreciated that coats and snow boots are included since our three-year-old twin boys do not have any winter wear. However, if you have your own, feel free to bring them with you.

For hygiene purposes, Ice Magic does not provide headwear, socks or gloves but you can buy some at the venue if you forgot your own or don't have any. Gloves and socks are sold from $18 and $4 respectively on site.

You can also rent a locker for $4 to store your valuables

Once you enter the winter playground, be prepared for a frosty -15°C and real snow in the 3,000 sqm space with activities including a 6.5m-tall and 98m-long snow slope.

New to this edition is the first-ever Merry-Go-Round on Ice.

The young and young-at-heart will enjoy Singapore’s first Double-Lane Couple Ice Slide which is perfect for lovebirds who want to slide down hand-in-hand or for those who want to race to be the fastest.

Our kids loved the Five-Lane Mini Ice Slides, exploring the igloos and a mini pine forest on site.

There's also the Magical Ice Rink where kids can ride dolphin-shaped mounts and glide across the ice.

Stick around for the last hour of your session and you'll experience the simulated Arctic winter lights that turn up the magic with shades of purple, green, blue and yellow.

For those who can't leave without posting something for the 'gram, make sure you strike a pose with one of the several ice sculptures, including the Merlion and Singapore Flyer.

Trust me, when you're done, you'll be starving so it's a good thing that there is comfort food waiting for you just outside at the Winter Food Village, open to the public from 10am to 10pm.

Highlights include Swiss Rosti by Wado, The Wintry Spiced Wine by Booze Affairs, S’mores Toasticle by Milkbear.

There is also The Ice Cafe set up at the entrance of the playground which serves up hot chocolate and coffee for those who want to warm up their insides.

Ice Magic: Winter Wonderland runs until Jan 21 at Bayfront Event Space, next to Marina Bay Sands.

Tickets are $39 for adults, $29 for children (aged two to 12) and $19 for seniors (aged 60 and above). There is also a promo for local students at $50 for two people and a four-person package going for $30 per pax. Book your slots here.
