A girl allegedly suffered a first-degree burn on her face while watching a fireworks display on National Day (Aug 9).

The girl's mother, TikTok user @rsutopia posted a video about what happened on Aug 12.

Although she did not specify where they went to watch the fireworks, the location appears to be in the area of Our Tampines Hub, which was one of five heartland locations where fireworks were set off to celebrate Singapore's 58th birthday.

In the video, the girl's mother said the family stood 'far from the safe range' but her daughter 'shouted in pain' before turning her face to the ground.

"We were traumatised and ran around to find a medic," the mother said.

She said security guards passed them wet tissues when she asked for a first aid kit before pointing them to an ambulance that was stationed in the vicinity.

The mother said one of the medics confirmed the girl had suffered a first-degree burn on her face and was given a water bottle and gauze to treat it.

She washed her daughter's face and brought her to a washroom.

Her father bought aloe vera from a nearby pharmacy to soothe the pain.

In the video, the girl's face appeared to be stained with an orange substance and the area around her eye was red.

Her mother added that she had a 'burning sensation' near her eye.

She also pointed out an orange stain on the ground as possible evidence her daughter was hit by a fireworks spark.

While some netizens sympathised and wished the girl a speedy recovery, others told the family to 'stay home to watch fireworks' next time.

This is not the first fireworks-related incident that has happened recently.

Last month, NDP preview attendees found 'firework stains' on their bodies and clothes and claimed they could not be easily washed away.
