A fire broke out at Saint Andrew's Junior School at around 12.47pm today (Sep 29), the second day of written papers for Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

Stomper Bird alerted Stomp to what happened after she received photos of the scene from a friend.

According to Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board, primary school students were scheduled to take their mathematics exams for their PSLE today from 8.15am to 11.55am.

Stomp understands that the fire involving discarded items broke out in a toilet at the school canteen.

It was reportedly discovered by a student who then alerted the vice-principal.

When contacted, a spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that two fire engines, two Red Rhinos and one combined platform ladder were dispatched to the scene.

When the SCDF arrived, the fire had already been put out by a school staffer with a fire extinguisher.

Said a police spokesman in response to a Stomp query:

"On Sep 29, 2017, police were alerted to a case of fire at 2 Francis Thomas Drive.

"No injuries were reported.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
