FairPrice has responded after a customer found "greenish and furry" patches on some waffles that were purchased from NTUC FairPrice in Tampines Mall.

Stomper Elle shared photos of the waffles with Stomp.

She said told Stomp: "I opened the box on Tuesday (Sep 3) at about 10am, wanting to have the waffles for breakfast.

"I was looking forward to having them and I couldn't really comprehend what I saw. I thought it was part of the chocolate chip flavour.

"It was greenish and furry. I even asked my husband to verify whether I was seeing things and then I threw it away.

"I only bought it about a month back and was quite stun to see these greenish patches that looked like mould. It only expires in May 2020.

"Thankfully we checked before toasting them and putting into our mouths."

Responding to a Stomp query, a FairPrice spokesperson said: "FairPrice takes food safety and quality issues very seriously and is committed to uphold a high level of food safety standards.

"We have since been in contact with the supplier, and understand that checks on existing batches do not reveal any anomalies.

"Nonetheless, we appeal for the reader to contact us to provide an actual sample of the product in question to assist in our investigation into the cause of the alleged quality issue.
