Commuters are encouraged to practice graciousness by giving up their seats to those in need.

Unfortunately, one woman didn't get the memo.

Stomper Sruthi shared with Stomp that she boarded bus service 133 from Bugis MRT Station with her mother on Mar 19 at about 9.49pm.

According to her, there were only about two to three empty seats on the bus at that time.

A young woman was sitting on one of the priority seats and had placed her backpack on the empty seat beside her.

"When my mum said 'excuse me', she took the bag and let my mother sit," said the Stomper.

"She had leg pain too so I thought it was better for her to sit here."

Sruthi then sat behind her mother but was taken aback when she noticed the young woman typing something to post on her Instagram Stories.

"I was shocked when I caught her typing: 'F****** woman. There are a thousand free seats on this damned bus you're choosing to deliberately sit next to me when my stuff are on the seat & I have a shit ton of... (sic)"

Sruthi told Stomp that she confronted the woman about what she wrote but said the woman pretended like she 'didn't know anything'.

"She didn't even apologise for using the f-word on my mother," she said.

"First of all, the priority seats are for elderly people who need it and not for backpacks.

"If the bus was empty and she chose to put her bags on the seat, it's fine but at that time, the bus was quite full."

Sruthi hopes by sharing this, people will be more considerate and be more mindful of what they post.

"Typing such posts with vulgarities is not acceptable at all."
