Cyclists raising funds for Sana stopped to help GetGo car user, company donates $1,000 to thank them

This is new.

For once, we have a story about cyclists and a motorist where they aren't antagonistic towards each other.

A group of cyclists stopped to help a motorist stranded in the middle of the road after running out of petrol on Jan 6.

Stomper G was one of the cyclists.

"We were doing the Break The Cycle 202.4km challenge to raise funds for Sana (Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association)," recounted the Stomper.

"It was Saturday evening, 7.20pm. At Mandai Avenue, we saw a GetGo car stalled in the middle lane. My leader decided to stop and help.

"The driver said her tank was empty and her phone was flat. One rider lent her a phone. Then our support driver came along and lent her his power bank and we continued our ride."

After recent reports of altercations between cyclists and motorcyclists, this incident demonstrates that the two do not always have to be mortal enemies on the road.

The Countdown 202.4km Challenge drew 130 cyclists representing nine cycling clubs who came together in support of Yellow Ribbon Project and in aid of Sana.

Donations can be made to Sana at Giving.sg.
