If you were at Waterway Point on Saturday (Apr 1), you may have noticed a snaking long queue outside Tiong Bahru Bakery.

Stomper Alfred took photos and a video of the crowd of people hoping to score some free pastries.

The bakery had launched a deal at 10am on Apr 1 where customers could get seven free croissants with purchase of any coffee or tea.

According to its Instagram page, customers are instructed to whisper, "I heard a rumour that I can get free croissants for a week" to staff after ordering their beverage.

Customers would then receive a stamp card that can be used to redeem the free croissants, limited to a maximum of two croissants per stamp card, per day.

There is no limit to the number of drinks that can be purchased.

However, several customers expressed their disappointment at not being able to score the deal in the comments section.

One netizen said she made a 'wasted trip' to Waterway Point and was told that they had 'stopped' the queue.

"So this is not unlimited right," they said.

"So angry."

Another commenter wrote: "Worst ever promo. You can't deliver then don't. You need to limit each order! Croissant(s) run out before it even started. Very bad."

On the other hand, one customer praised the staff at the bakery's Scotts Square outlet and said there was 'good coordination' of the queue and 'good control' of people dining and takeaway."

Did you get your free croissants?
