Customer pays $26 for nasi kandar in KL food court, charged for 2 squid even though he got just one

It is not just in Singapore.

A Facebook post about someone paying RM86 (S$26) for nasi kandar has gone viral in Malaysia.

Nasi kandar is like the Malaysian version of nasi padang.

The post was shared by a Facebook user name Cheng CB in a KL community group on Monday (Jan 2).

He had gone to the Food Republic food court in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping centre on New Year's Eve and ordered food from the nasi kandar stall.

According to the photo of the receipt he posted, the plain rice was RM5 (S$1.50) for two, the quarter chicken leg was RM11 (S$3.36) and the fresh squid (L) was RM70 (S$21.40) for two. The total was RM86.

Cheng CB wondered if the price was normal as it was the first time he ate there and he is from Johor.

He said he was charged for two squid even though he got just one. When he asked about it, he was told it was because he took a "big" one. But Cheng CB said the squid were all the same size.

Having gone viral, his post has since been reported by various Malaysian media outlets.

Another Facebook user shared photos of the stall and the menu board, which shows the price of the fresh squid does not match the price on Cheng CB's receipt.
