An accident involving a car and a Tower Transit bus at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 9 and Woodlands Avenue 4 on Thursday morning (Sept 1) has left the 32-year-old car driver and a bus passenger dead.

Stomper Victor shared photos of the accident which Stomper Sarah said caused a heavy traffic jam.

The yellow car was travelling along Woodlands Avenue 9 when it crashed into the side of the bus making a right turn at the junction.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a road traffic accident at about 6.10am.

"A person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic," said SCDF.

"SCDF conveyed nine other persons to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital."

Police told Stomp that the 37-year-old bus driver and eight bus passengers were taken to the hospital. One passenger, a 53-year-old woman, subsequently died in hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

When contacted by Stomp, Tower Transit said: "We are deeply grieved to learn that one of our passengers has subsequently passed away in the hospital. We are seeking their next-of-kin to provide them with assistance and offer our condolences."
