A Tower Transit bus was forced to brake suddenly to avoid hitting a car making an illegal left turn in Ang Mo Kio on Nov 14 morning.

A dashcam video of the near-accident was posted online by SG Road Vigilante on Nov 16.

In the video, bus service 853 was going straight in the leftmost lane on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 towards the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 junction.

Vehicles are allowed to turn left at the junction only in that leftmost lane.

A Mazda coming from behind in the next lane overtook the bus on the right and made a sudden left turn at the junction by cutting in front of the bus.

This forced the bus to stop suddenly to avoid an accident.

After making the left turn into Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, the car drove off. The bus driver appeared to take a beat before continuing on its journey.

Netizens slammed the Mazda driver.

One commented: "Each time I see such videos, it just amazes me how many idiots there are driving out there."

A netizen also pointed out: "Really, this selfish Mazda driver endangered the whole bus of passengers."

Another said: "Singapore typical style. Wait until the passenger falls and it becomes the bus captain’s fault."
