4 men charged for affray after fight breaks out outside Geylang bar

Four men, aged between 23 and 24, were arrested after a fight erupted outside a bar in Geylang during the early hours of Monday (Aug 21).

The police were alerted to the fight outside the Mask 51 pub along Geylang Road at 1.44am.

Through ground enquires and with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the parties involved and arrested them on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 23-year-old man, together with two other men aged 23 and 24, had allegedly confronted another 23-year-old man whom he had a previous dispute with.

"During the confrontation, a fight broke out between them and two men suffered minor injuries," police added.

According to Shin Min Daily News, a group of customers had gotten drunk and started stirring up trouble outside the bar, even going out into the middle of the road.

There were reportedly as many as 30 men and women at the scene at one point, but many fled before the police arrived.

The four men were charged in court on Thursday with affray.

Leong Kah Koe, 23, Akilann Jeeva, 24, and Wong Jun Xiang, 24 – all Singaporeans – had allegedly exchanged punches with Wong Khoon Wai, 23, a Malaysian.

Akilann’s case had been adjourned to Aug 28, while the cases of the other three men will be mentioned again in court on Sept 21, reported The Straits Times.

If found guilty, they face a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
