Injured women arrested after arguing, throwing things at each other out of jealousy

Two women suffered minor injuries after they got into a fight at Sing Avenue, with both getting arrested.

The incident occurred at 23B Sing Avenue, near Farrer Park MRT station, last Tuesday night (July 18).

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to a dispute at around 10.40pm.

They added: "A 47-year-old woman was arrested for criminal intimidation. Another 49-year-old woman was arrested for public nuisance.

"Both suffered minor injuries but refused conveyance to the hospital."

A Shin Min Daily News reader told the Chinese-language daily that she heard swearing from the unit at around 8pm, followed by the sounds of things being thrown. The commotion lasted for about an hour.

Another resident in the vicinity said the two women had Chinese accents and were quarrelling.

She added: "The argument got increasingly heated and they were throwing things at each other, thus attracting a crowd. Someone called the police."

Four police cars and an ambulance were spotted at the scene. Officers were there until midnight.

However, the women continued arguing even after police entered the unit.

Neighbours said there was a Chinese man living in the unit but they did not interact much with him.

According to Shin Min, the two women had clashed due to jealousy, with one showing up at the unit to confront the other, hence leading to the altercation.

Police investigations are ongoing.
