24 women arrested for working without valid work permits at public entertainment outlets

Twenty-four women, aged between 18 and 28, were arrested during a series of enforcement operations against public entertainment outlets on Oct 12 and 13.

The enforcement checks were conducted by the Central Police Division on public entertainment outlets along Foch Road.

During the operations, two outlets were found to have contravened licensing conditions and one outlet was found operating without a licence.

The suspects were arrested for working without valid work permits under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act and offences under the Immigration Act.

Actions will also be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act 2015.

In a statement, the police said they "take a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take tough enforcement stance against such activities."
