16 women arrested in police operation against massage parlours and public entertainment outlets

Sixteen women, aged between 22 and 40, were arrested during a series of enforcement operations against massage establishments and public entertainment outlets on Sep 26 and 27.

The operations were conducted along Outram Road, Lorong Telok, Beach Road, Jalan Besar, Kitchener Road, Perak Road, Robinson Road and Syed Alwi Road by Central Police Division.

Two licensed massage establishments were found to have contravened licensing conditions.

Six women, aged between 27 and 35, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.

During the enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets, two outlets were found to have contravened licensing conditions.

Ten women, aged between 22 and 40, were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Massage Establishment Act, said the police in a news release.

They added: "The police take a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take tough enforcement stance against such activities."
