Man suffers lacerations after being attacked by assailant with scissors in Geylang

A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking another man with scissors in Geylang on Friday (Nov 11).

The police said they were alerted to a case of assault in the vicinity of Aljunied Road and Lorong 22 Geylang at around 6.30pm.

"A 30-year-old man was purportedly attacked by the 26-year-old man, with a pair of scissors," police added.

The victim, who sustained laceration wounds on his arms and thigh, was conscious when taken to hospital. He is currently in a stable condition.

Through ground enquiries, and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTV, officers from Bedok Police Division established the suspect's identity and arrested him within three hours of the reported incident.

He was charged in court in Saturday with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and/or a fine and/or caning.

The police said they will not tolerate such brazen acts of violence and blatant disregard of the law, adding: "We will spare no effort to track down such offenders and will deal with them in accordance with the law."
